Star Wars Fan Film “A Light in the Darkness”

At the risk of sounding redundant, I am a fan of fan films. I love it when you have a production, often a group of people, that was created just because of their love for the ‘verse. Now, make no mistake there is no shortage of Star Wars fan films, or other fan film genres, but this one has exceptional production quality and that is what draws my attention.

As I watch this I remember some news that Lucasfilm recently dropped that they said that the bid to create a Star Wars live action TV series was too expensive and they were shelving it for now. If the costs were too prohibitive I have a feeling that they were shooting way too high when someone with a few cameras and time can create this.

I also believe that its possible to create a good Star Wars story with little special effects, and personally I think it would be a nice change. The Star Wars Universe is so rich with back stories they should be letting the characters breathe on their own and tell the story. I think that was part of the problem with the second trilogy, too much emphasis on Green Screening and effects got in the way of the characters and story.

Anyways, enough of my opinion…have a look at “A Light in the Darkness”

A Light in the Darkness’ main action takes place approx. 1 year BBY on a small planet in the Outer Rim. A young boy watches the Jedi who saved his people be killed by the very clones who once fought by his side. Years later, as a member of a small insurgency against the empire he and his team hatch a new plan to take back their planet by drawing the attention of the newly formed rebel alliance.

Armed with the fallen Jedi’s light saber, he and his team battle to strike fear into the local imperial garrison, and overthrow their despotic governor. Their silent attacks give birth to a legend, and the people speak of a phantom Jedi whose spirit has returned.

As the story spreads they manage to draw attention to their forgotten corner of the galaxy, but who will arrive first, the rebel alliance or the empire?

Where Wookies Come From

Level up an Ewok with a mushroom

Found this on Buzzfeed. Kinda makes you wonder what happens if he finds the raccoon suit.

Food Processor/Processed Food

Yesterday Julie asked me “If fancy Chefs use food processors, why is processed food looked down upon?”

This is one of those things that made me say “Hmmmm…” Got any others?

Yay, @DragonConTV is producing more of their parody ads. That must mean DragonCon is really getting close.
