  • On February 19, 1847, The first group of rescuers reached the Donner Party.
  • 142 years ago today, Thomas Edison patents the phonograph.
  • That same date in 1960, China successfully launched the T-7, its first sounding rocket.
  • Also on February 19, 1985, William J. Schroeder became the first recipient of an artificial heart to leave hospital.
