Freezing Bubbles

Freezing soap bubble

Now this is the kind of photography I could really get into. If bubbles would freeze in mid-air where I live that is.

Sennheiser HDR 110

Sennheiser HDR 110 At the moment I am sitting in bed with the laptop watching TV and listening to the audio on a new set of Sennheiser HDR 110 wireless headphones.

My team at work gave me a $30 gift card to Circuit City for Christmas. With another $40 I picked up the headphones and set them up in the bedroom in a matter of minutes. Originally I was using the headphone jack to send the audio to the transmitter, however that required I get up and plug in the jack. That’s no fun. I found a set of RCA jacks on the back of the TV that continue to operate independent of the speaker system – meaning I can mute the speakers and continue to broadcast to the headphones. That’s what I want!

The HDR 110 headphones are comfortable, but a little bulky. They are a large set of “on ear” headphones. Taking two AAA batteries the phones have an on/off switch on one side and volume and tuner on the other. I roamed around the house and never had any problem with reception. I have to admit that I’m pleased with headphones so far. Now I can continue to watch (and listen) to TV after Donna falls asleep. Thanks team!

Old Computers

One of my co-workers passed this great site to me. Yes, this is one of those sites that screams TECHNORAMA and brings back memories. Spend hours (or days) going over the old ads, specs, and links to find parts for your old crap cool stuff.

Now you know where to go for info the Jupiter Ace!

Procrastination down to Nth decimal place

Procrastinate

Academics invent a mathematical equation for why people procrastinate

The equation is U = EV/ID

The ‘U’ stands for utility, or the desire to complete a given task. It is equal to the product of E, the expectation of success, and V the value of completion, divided by the product of I, the immediacy of the task, and D, the personal sensitivity to delay.

Uh-huh, how much time did these guys have on their hands anyway? I’ll bet this story will be on the short list for next year’s Ignoble Awards

Top 10 Greatest Geeks of All Time

Top 10 Greatest Geeks of All Time

Geek Boy

A bit hyperbolic, but worth a read for some obscure tech geek cred. Personally, I would have put in Da Vinci or Tesla though. The list is a bit too slanted to the post-WWII timeframe. But the good news is that Bill and Steve are not on the list.
