Interview: Ernest Cline

ERNEST CLINE has worked as a short-order cook, fish gutter, plasma donor, elitist video store clerk, and tech support drone. His primary occupation, however, has always been geeking out, and he eventually threw aside those other promising career paths to express his love of pop culture fulltime as a spoken word artist and screenwriter.

The Gift

Saw this short sci-fi film pimped on the Film Riot podcast. It’s so amazing, that I could only hope that this director gets to make big budget films someday. The visual effects and production quality are indistinguishable from a Hollywood film. The storytelling without words drew me in, and I watched the whole thing. This is only significant because I’m normally a guy that will play videos on a 2nd monitor at double speed just to listen to a video. Ordinarily I ignore the video and I listen to the dialogue.

Interview: Dr. Robert Nemiroff

Dr. Robert Nemiroff is a professor at Michigan Technological University in Houghton Michigan. He’s also one of the people behind APOD (Astronomy Picture of the Day) among other things. While dropping my daughter off at college, I was fortunate enough to get a moment to talk to Dr. Nemiroff before he started the busy semester.

Technorama Interview: Josh and Will from Written by a Kid

Josh Flaum and Will Bowles, the creators of the show Written by a Kid on the Geek & Sundry YouTube channel, join me for an interview where they talk about themselves and about the show.

If you are not familiar with the show Written by a Kid it is a show where Kids from 5-10 year olds make up a story and they produce it with live actors using the kids story as the script, verbatim. It is fun and great to watch for anyone, including your own kid.
