    First, I’m not a diver. However, after reading “Shadow,” I have become a Chatterton fan. John Chatterton embodies so many of the qualities that make men heros: Honesty, integrity, doing the right thing, sticktoitiveness and on and on…

    To John, if this reaches you: I have never envisioned doing the kind of things you have done, but all my life, I have dreamed of being the kind of “person” you are.

    I’m reading Shadow Divers right now and Mike I could not agree more with your comments above. John Chatterton embodies all the characteristics of a hero. I love the part of the book that describes how he selflessly throws himself in front of enemy fire to save the lives of his comrades during his tour in Vietnam. John shows us the beauty of mankind and gives us a glimpse about how to live our lives to our fullest extent.
