The aluminium foil hats amplified only part of the spectrum. I’m not certain how wide the amplification bands are, but they’re at 1.2 GHz and 2.6 GHz. RFID commonly works at 125 or 134 kHz, 13.56 MHz, 868 to 956 MHz or 2.45 GHz.
The aluminium foil hats didn’t cover the entire heads (, which might explain why the amplification took place; it did change the way EM fields propegated through the room). The foil used by RMS did cover the entire badge (mini Faraday cage). He didn’t use an entire roll of foil; he passed the foil around after he used enough for his badge.

Regarding the Midwest Computer Recyclers segment: 21000 microfarad (μF or uF) is not 21 farad. It’s 21 milifarad (mF).

    Thanks for the show.

Thanks for the info on the aluminum foil V!

…and thanks for correcting my math. When I said it, I knew it didn’t sound quite right, but I was bouncing from one exciting thing to the next so I wasn’t thinking analytically. 🙂

You’re welcome, Chuck. By the way, I got the information regarding RFID from wikipedia. (I knew I forgot a URL!) I’m not that into RFID that I know the frequencies by heart. 🙂

It’s amazing you even tried converting the number of microfarad. So much lovely junk!
