National Pi Day? Congress makes it official via /.
The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a resolution introduced two days earlier that designates March 14, 2009 (3/14, get it?) as National Pi Day. It urges schools to take the opportunity to teach their students about Pi and “engage them about the study of mathematics.

This is the second in a two part series to bring you some geeky “behind the scenes” stuff about what it takes to bring you such a good time. Nerdi gras, the nerd’s equivalent of mardi gras, begins today. It lasts from the square root of Christmas until Pi day.
(Christmas is 12/25; the square root of 1225 is 35, represented as
3/05. Pi day is, of course, pi (3.14) day, or 3/14.)
