RIP Douglas Engelbart

I was just reading Robert Scoble’s G+ profile and saw that Douglas Englebart passed away yesterday on July 2nd. He was 88.

He is responsible for bringing forward much of what we know about modern computing such as the mouse, Hypertext, networked computers, and graphical interfaces! Here he is with the “Mother of all Demos” where he is demonstrating the mouse and cut and paste, etc. way back in 1968.

Thank you Douglas for changing the world.

5 Milion Piece LEGO X-Wing Fighter

Built in only 4 months by 32 master LEGO builders. You know that Kickstarter project about building a Death Star. Maybe they should consider doing a full scale LEGO mock up first. You know, as a proof of concept to sell the idea.

And then we can send in this thing to blow it up.

A true Space Oddity and We need more like him

Recently within the last few months I have been following Chris Hadfield, a Canadian Astronaut, through his YouTube Videos and on the Canadian Space Agency’s You Tube Channel as well, where he takes questions and demonstrates how things are in space. They are excellent and you can tell that Space and Science are in this guys blood.

He came home to Earth Monday May 15th, but before he did…he released the most awesome gem of a YouTube video.

Technorama Ep373.5: We’re not dead yet!

Here is a special message from Technorama’s CEO, CFO, and GEEK Chuck Tomasi informing all the listeners that we are not dead yet. In fact we are so not dead that we offer this audio message as proof that we still exist and are operating on this common plane of existence we are all sharing.

DigitalHeart

Now that I think about it, this isn’t real proof since we could have simply recorded this at any time. Regardless, don’t saddle yourself looking for proof and wasting your valuable time. Just take our word for it similar in the way you believe in Love.

You see, you can’t hold or touch love. You can’t smell or hear it, but you see the effects and the results of it. Following that logic and since there is no Technorama, you can’t hear us or touch us then that means Technorama is like love. So, love us while not seeing or hearing us and we will be back soon.

Yes, Technorama is love.

Happy Birthday to Technorama! 8 years and counting

Wow…it seems like only yesterday we started, but Chuck Tomasi and myself have been doing Technorama for 8 years. Starting back in 2005 Chuck had produced the first few episodes himself. He quickly realized that he needed help so I (Kreg) came aboard. 8 Years later..and he still needs help. 🙂

Birthday Cake! Our library of podcast on the site is a little spotty in the beginning, but feel free to go back and listen to some of our early shows in our backlog. Below is a quick random selection from 2005.

Thank you to all of our listeners that make this all possible. As I have always said, “Without listeners our show is only half a podcast”. If it wasn’t for you all…Chuck and I would just be talking to ourselves.
