Rogue Pirate Ninjas do not ask questions. We already know the answer. It is kill. It is always kill.

Rogue Pirate Ninjas do not breathe. It makes too much noise.

Chuck Norris once met a Rogue Pirate Ninja. He wet himself. Twice.

The 101 most influential people who never lived
via Digg

Another 101, this time fictional characters who’ve influenced the world. So why do Kirk and Spock get clumped together at #50? It’s not like they’re Jeckyll & Hide (#10). And #1 is the Marbolo Man??

How to Do Cube Roots of 9 Digit Numbers in Your Head via Digg

I give this party trick 3 out of 5 stars, it has a big caveat in that it will only work w/ 9 digit numbers that happen to be a perfect cube of a whole number. Still, it’s interesting to find a couple of almost practical uses of modulo.

Earth's "Second Moon".

Print Free Graph Paper via Digg

Cartestian, polar, and logarithmic scales in addition to the really nerdy stuff nobody uses. U.S. and metric units.

Earth has a “second moon.” Asteroid 2003 YN107 is looping around our planet once a year.

It entered a corkscrew orbit around the Earth about 7 years ago and it was about to leave Earth’s orbit this past summer. Oh, and there are three more asteriods in similar orbits around the Earth.

Help! YouTube is killing my business! via CNN

The company [Universal Tube and Rollerform Equipment Corp], which sells used machinery for making tubes to clients worldwide, has seen its site utube.com knocked off line by millions of online searchers looking for video site.

“I buy $100,000 worth of used machinery and want to get it up on the Web site [for clients to see],” Girkins said. “I can’t even get on the Web site.”

My heart goes out to you man…really. But you’ll never understand why. 68 million hits in August alone. And he’s complaining about what again?

Interview: Grant Imahara

Grant Imahara from Discovery Channel’s MythBusters was kind enough to give us an interview. We discuss what it took to get him where he is, how he got mixed up with the MythBusters, and even a few fun and strange stories along the way.

Note: This is the first time Kreg and I have conducted an interview while face to face.

Shelfari – the Web 2.0 bookshelf

Shelfari, like YouTube for Books via Digg

More like a del.icio.us for books, and includes comic books. Also turns out to be an easy way to find all books by an author or related to an author. And an oh-so-convenient buy-this-book-at-Amazon link for each entry. Anyway, if anyone wants to check out my bookshelf, go to http://www.shelfari.com/madmarv/shelf.

And, now that I’ve added a couple dozen books to my shelf (it only took 3 minutes), it really looks like a good way to display your library. Moreso because my physical copies are pretty beat up or in boxes with stuff that crawl around in the night.

The Crypt of Civilization via Digg

This ambitious project, which began in the dawn of the Second World War, is known as the Crypt of Civilization; it represents the first concerted effort to collect and preserve a snapshot of human civilization and technology. Though the term had not yet been coined at its inception, it was the first modern time capsule.
