Can a spam filter play chess? via Digg
I’d rather see Deep Blue try to filter out spam, but this could be entertaining too. Hmm, has anyone heard of any progress on getting a computer to play Go competitively? From what I’ve heard, pattern recognition and intuitive, or right-brained thinking, are more important than look-ahead computation. And, the game gets more complex as game pieces are added to the board. This could be exactly what is needed for spam filtration.

Joss Whedon preps Fox series via /.
7 episodes of Dollhouse have been purchased by Fox. Man, there are so many ways this story can be spun. On the one hand, there are fewer ways to air this out of order, but on the other hand 7 episodes are 3 more than Fox’s 4 show drop dead rule.

The Great Pumpkin House via Digg
Every halloween season, the house at 748 Beech Street in Kenova, West Virginia is transformed into the Great Pumpkin House. The owner, Ric Griffith and hundreds of other volunteers carve thousands of pumpkins for display at his home every halloween.
3000+ pumpkins are planned for this year. I wonder if they are using candles for this.
