Shelfari – the Web 2.0 bookshelf

Shelfari, like YouTube for Books via Digg

More like a del.icio.us for books, and includes comic books. Also turns out to be an easy way to find all books by an author or related to an author. And an oh-so-convenient buy-this-book-at-Amazon link for each entry. Anyway, if anyone wants to check out my bookshelf, go to http://www.shelfari.com/madmarv/shelf.

And, now that I’ve added a couple dozen books to my shelf (it only took 3 minutes), it really looks like a good way to display your library. Moreso because my physical copies are pretty beat up or in boxes with stuff that crawl around in the night.

The Crypt of Civilization via Digg

This ambitious project, which began in the dawn of the Second World War, is known as the Crypt of Civilization; it represents the first concerted effort to collect and preserve a snapshot of human civilization and technology. Though the term had not yet been coined at its inception, it was the first modern time capsule.
