I’ve got a lot of info for you in this one. It’s hard to believe it’s October. It’s hard to believe Liisa will be 13 and Donna and I will celebrate 20 years. Other things in this episode:
- Other podcasts I’ve been working on
- Turning vacations in to podcast material
- Trying my hand at writing (fiction and another book)
- Liisa’s got a cat
- Having a blast at work
- ITIL 101
- Old Superheroes and villians
Feed problems - sorry.

Apologies for the troubles with the RSS feeds. There seems to be some issues with iTunes and/or perhaps somewhere else. I am working on several possible leads. Freestyle and Gmail Podcast seem to be affected, but Technorama and Radio Yesterday are OK. Sometimes the changes made take a day or two to replicate through all the systems. I appreciate your patience.
Long overdue update

I had a few moments to spare while ironing some wrinkled travel clothes and thought I would share a few bits on my mind while I take care of the chores.

It’s been a long time since I had a chance to let you know what’s up behind the scenes. It’s been busy work, busy family, busy exercise, and did I mention busy?

Join us for a little trip to Joe Louis Arena to see the Detroit Red Wings. This is not a play-by-play of a great hockey game by a great team. It’s a sneak peek inside a couple teenage girls’ heads as they experience their first hockey game.

We’ve taken advantage of a few days the girls have off school to drive to Detroit MI and visit with family. Donna’s Aunts and Uncle live in the area. Her bother and sister drove down from Alpena to share a rented house with us. We had a long drive on Thursday, but the weather was nice. We continue to realize that the GPS is not infallable. It sometimes makes up some crazy routes, but eventually gets you where you want to go. It’s best to watch roadsigns AND use the GPS. If we were keeping score of who messed up more, I think the humans still have the lead.
We had a wonderful visit yesterday with Donna’s Aunt Rosemary. I think I’ve seen her once since she was at our wedding. From what I was told, she was in declining health, but when we got to her apartment, she seemed to be doing very well. I offered to do a few simple chores for her including washing windows, unplugging a difficult A/C unit, and sewing some ties back on the seat cushions. Liisa and Grandpa pitched in too. Grandpa’s brother Joe and his wife Mary (yes, another Mary and Joe in the family) showed up a little later. We enjoyed some order-out pizza from Howies and visited until Donna’s brother, Matt, returned from shopping with his family and the girls.
Our evening activities consisted of a Detroit Red Wings game (Wings 5, San Jose Sharks 1). We got there plenty early for parking, a trip on the People Mover, and a dinner at “Pegasus Taverna” in Greektown. Look for pictures on my Flickr Site. The game was fun. This was the girls’ first hockey game, and all of our first NHL hockey game.
Despite warning signs about nor audio or video recording devices, I had the Belkin TuneTalk (w/o external mic) and recorded a few snippets with Julie and Liisa. To the unsuspecting eye, it was just an iPod. Look for those in the next post.
I also took the Griffin “iFM” and listened to the announcers on the radio while watching the game. That’s advantagous when you want to find out who got called for what penalty or if you missed the name/number on the jersey of someone who scored - which seemed to be often.
It’s going to be a long trip back to Wisconsin tomorrow. For now I’m just going to chill out and borrow the neighbor’s WiFi.
Take care!
